The lector or minister of the Word proclaims the readings during weekday and Sunday Masses. This ministry is rooted in a love for the Word of God. The reader is called not only to prepare carefully and proclaim the readings of the Liturgy but also to be familiar with Scripture in general.
To love the Word and bring it to others at the Eucharist is the joy and call of one who enters into the Ministry of Lector. Commitment to a monthly schedule, preparing properly for the apostolate, and being on time dressed appropriately for your assigned Mass are aspects of fulfilling this ministry. Training for carrying out these responsibilities is provided by the present ministers.
